Large language models and image generation software, colloquially referred to as AI, have been making huge waves in the worlds of art and writing. One of the main reasons behind the current Writers' Guild of America strike, for example, is concerns this technology will be used to eliminate their jobs completely and are indistinguishable from plagiarism. What makes these technologies even more concerning is their consistent biases against marginalized communities and proven instances of large language model technology outright fabricating non-existent sources to support their claims.
We here at On Black Wings have resolved to refrain from using large language model and image generation software in our content until the ethical implications have been fully examined, addressed, and resolved. We will also not promote or endorse any content which used these technologies in their production.
